Raspberry Ridge Farm - Fall Newsletter:
Register for special camp weekend- CHA level 1 testing and 2 clinics!
November 19 & 20
The November weekend will be a special one as we are doing testing for CHA RIDER level one. Riders interested in achieving this level may obtain study books fro Raspberry Ridge. There is a ridden and written test at a walk-trot level.
We are also having an in-house clinic on the Sunday, November 20. Showmanship in the morning and Horsemanship (mounted) in the afternoon. The clinician has shown AQHA and open shows across Ontario and has judged in the U.S. We are making it low-key and have invited her in especially for our group who are interested in showing or are improving their show skills. It is great experience to learn how to handle/show a horse.
Join us for riding through autumn leaves, games, crafts. Seven horse hours per day horse-time including riding, grooming, feeding and games!
New campers are also welcome to join us and will have the opportunity to observe the testing and clinics as well as have regular lessons, even if they are not ready to join the clinic.
Day Program: Saturday & Sunday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. $89. for both days/ $47. for one day. (Plus g.s.t.) Campers bring their own lunch.
Overnight: Saturday 9 a.m- Sunday 4 p.m. $129.
Get to work on your rider levels! Riders serious about achieving formal levels can follow
a program to receive official CHA rider levels. Students purchase a CHA book corresponding to the level at which they are working, read the text, and complete the riding exercises. A certificate and pin will be received after successfully passing both the
written and practical testing. Testing for Level 1 will take place on the Saturday November 19. There is an examination fee of $20./student in addition to any camp/lesson fees. As well, advanced students may choose to add on a Showmanship and Horsemanship. The cost is an additional $15. ($20. for both tests or the clinic or $35. extra for both.)
Riding Lessons
Riding lessons teach the rider to have better balance and control. The rider's goal may be just to learn to ride for pleasure, or to go to shows, jump, do a dressage test.
Riding is fun, teaches coordination and concentration, and is great exercise for healthy people of all ages. Our lessons run year round.
Weekly riding lessons are available for adults and children ages 6 and up. Groups for kids and teens are usually available after school and on Saturdays. Adult lessons are available on weekdays and Saturdays to accommodate most schedules including shift work.
Our on-site coach is a certified English instructor with 20 years of coaching experience. Our students ride for recreation and in competitions. They range from 5-68 years young. The cost is $25./hr* plus g.s.t. for a one hour group lesson (2-4 people) or $35.* for a private lesson. *Call Cheryl for details (613) 378-0321
Horse Club Want low commitment riding? The Raspberry Ridge Horse Club option offers you the most flexibility. No long contract to sign- ride extra when you have the time! Riders may choose to ride a selection of horses rather than one horse/pony. Riders must catch, groom and tack up their own horses.
Children under 14 who are leasing a horse/pony must be supervised by a parent at all times, and all riders may jump only during lessons unless they receive special permission.
Riders are evaluated as to the type of horse that they may ride, and then horses are booked on a first come/first served basis.
Three levels to choose from:
Bronze - Ride once/week $75./month, paid in advance
Silver - Ride twice/week $120./month, paid in advance
Gold- Ride three times/week $150./month, paid in advance
Leasing
An inexpensive alternative to owning your own horse. No commitment or extra costs. A few of our horses and several ponies are available for lease year-round to experienced students who have demonstrated their ability to ride independently. Horses remain on our farm, and we pay all feed, regular vet and blacksmith costs, and supply the tack. Riders must catch, groom and tack up their own horses. Children under 14 who are leasing a horse/pony must be supervised by a parent at all times, and all riders may jump only during lessons unless they receive special permission. Riders must sign a one year contract, and may ride up to four times per week.
The cost is a prepaid (at the beginning of each month) $150./month* for riding on most of our horses/ponies (for one person). Selected small ponies (usually under 12 hands) are available for lease at $95./month. Leasing off the farm is subject to different terms, and is to approved sites only.
See our website for registration forms or information: www.RaspberryRidge.com or call (613) 378-0321

**Horses/ponies must be leased on a signed 12-month basis.
