Just to show you the end result to all this barefoot trimming business, I'm putting up Rusty's feet. He's a younger guy and his transition has been a piece of cake. He has rock crushing feet, always has had thru all of this...minimal trimming. His feet sound like suction cups, instead of going clomp, clomp. You can hear the foot expanding and contracting with each step. You can see the dirt donuts he leaves behind with this kind of mechanism working and cleaning out his foot with every step. He will walk on any surface without a 2nd thought....have a look. This foot, I'm celebrating. It has arrived! Note the short distance from tip of frog to toe and good breakover. Note the short heels and the frog at same level, helping each other. Note the depth of the collateral groove at the frog apex (tip). See how much lower in depth it is next to the walls out to the side? That's concavity, that's the bottom of my bowl, that's one very thick soled, rock crushing hoof! Enjoy! We sure are! LOL! This one is not quite there yet. See the flat area right behind the toe? Concavity is not quite to the walls yet. Compare with 1st shot. And now I will retire and not bug you guys anymore, but I just wanted to show you the end result. This is a true barefoot horse, who has developed the hoof that he wants, not what I think it should be and it is one tough hoof.
