HELLO! I am glad to be here! I am so looking forward to meeting new friends on here, especially in my area, for a change. Please come in and introduce yourselves. Tell how many horses you have, goals etc. I'd like to meet you!
I have 3 horses, 2 quarter horses and quarter/arab. I have my horses at home, which is on the end of a dead end road. (sigh) Maybe that's why I started this thread! You think? LOL!
Anyhoo, come on in and tell us about yourselves. Love to hear from you! Let's get this ball rolling! I see good things ahead with this new site!

Hello,
Our names are Brenda, Alan and Sarah Turnbull and we reside at Albrensar Farm near Kingston along the Napanee River. We have three horses Mishii (Arabian mare), Brittany (Standardbred mare) and Kaz (Arabian gelding). We recently lost our Morgan gelding Justice. We buried him on the farm under his favorite tree. It seems that the only time they ever hurt you is when they die. His death devastated us.
We also have an assortment of cats we have taken in over the years and made them family. We have boarded our horses for many years but there is nothing like having your own place and seeing your own horses running around in their own field. The Napanee River borders the backside of our property so it is a nice quiet place for the horses to roam.
We nearly lost our Arabian Mare Mishii to an impaction in June. Thanks to a lot of prayers, a great vet team at St Lawrence Veterinary Service, some great horse friends (Nancy Allin, Bettie Barker and Helen Ludlow) and the grace of God she pulled through and is healthy now.
Enough babbling. Have the best day you possibly can every day and don't forget to kiss your horse good night.
Mishii's Mum

Hi! All three of your friends that you mentioned are also friends of mine, but I haven't seen Nancy since I took lessons from her when I was like......12! Maybe we will meet some day. I'm glad that Mishi pulled through her dilemma. Any kind of colic is so suffering! Makes you feel helpless. I'm glad that she's o.k. ;D

Hi there. My name is Mallory Mumford. I just moved back home a couple of months ago from spending a year at college in northern Alberta taking an equine studies course. I currently show locally in everything from halter to jumping to western pleasure to gaming. I have a two year old red dun roan QH filly and an eight year old red roan appendix gelding. I also co-own a bay grade QH mare with my mom. I am also training two outside horses right now - a two year old sorrel QH gelding (who is for sale by the way - hint, hint) and a four year old bay QH mare. I always love sites like this - they're so great for meeting new people and sharing ideas. Best of luck to the future of this site!
Play hard, ride harder!

Thanks Missyclare Welcome Mallory. This board is just starting out but in time it will become the equine hub of the Quinte and surrounding areas. It will take a good year or so for people to find it. The showing season is winding down but we are sure when the season starts next spring this board will be busy. So please keep checking back. Sarah

Howdy, this is my first time on a chat-board. I have a 100ac farm and raise QH & Paints. My interests include - working reined cow, team penning and trail riding. I purchase & train my own horses which at present include two 3yr.old fillies, two 2yr.old colts and one 4yr.old mare. I also enjoy trail riding with my older QH mare & gelding. Horses are a state of mind! Catch'ya all later.

Hi Everyone! This is Helen from Frankford here. I finally got to check out this group, and I think it's great! I have 2 horses and 1 pony, 7 cats (and one stray I'm figuring out what to do with). I have my horses at home on 22 acres. I have a 3 year old son, which explains why I don't 'surf the net' very often. I ride for pleasure (when possible), and spoil my horses with apples, carrots, and Nutrigrain bars.

Hi, Bettie was also kind enough to send me this posting and I finally got around to getting on to it. As many of you know Bettie owns my first horse's last foal so I have a soft spot for that horse (aye bettie) well I now own a 50 acre farm in Napanee. I have 3 quarter horses and one appy mini and one shetland pony. I have retired my old show horse which is now for sale in the states and I have started a new horse. His name is jack its mister to you. He is a three year old red dun gelding that is by the dignitary and temon. To everyones relief he is much quieter then the last one (right lori) So I am showing at the New horizons club with him. This club is small but has a great attitude. it is great for new horses and new riders. It has a tier system that you graduate from as you and your horse get better. glad you see the site.

Hi my name is Ann-Marie Lupenette, I own a ten year old appaloosa mare. We presently show at a couple clubs in the area (we switch up clubs every year for a change) and show at almost all of the local fairs. I like to keep in touch with what's going on locally in the horse world, so I'll be checking back regularily.

Welcome all new members! Glad you like the site! Keep checking back. I have my two appaloosa horses in my back yard. I have owned Renegade since he was a year and a half old. He turned 17 on September 17. He is Appaloosa and Quarter Horse cross. I trained him myself and have come along way with him. I always dreamed of owning my own horse and my dream has come true. I also own The Golden Nugget - Plaudit and Secretariat cross. My good friend Kim Welsh found Nug for me in October 2002 and I bought him. He is 14 now. Both these horses have been a God send to me! I have shown both but now only take one at a time and have a friend take her horse and trailer with me. It cuts the costs in half and I have someone to share with. It is great having my friends with me - we look after each other. My grand daughter has started showing. She has had help from Kim Welsh, Melinda Pennell and me. She has done very well on Renegade. I am riding in the local Lope for Hope - this is my 5th Year. It is a great event to raise money for Heart and Stroke and Cancer. It is great to get out for a good cause and visit with all my friends. Please take care and ride safe! Remember to love your animals and take care of them! They are always there for you!

Hi My name is Cliff and live north of HWY 7 in Marmora. I have 2 Arabians Ahab the Arab is a 11 yr old gelding and Star is an 10 yr old mare. until recently I had a 22 yr old mare called Jada until a driver ran her down while we were riding. I would be interested in hearing from any other people that lost a horse to a vehicle accident. I have been contacted by a few and it appears that the drivers are never charged, and want to see if this is common. We do a lot of trail riding and I love to cover ground at a good pace and ride for distance. My horses are the greatest way to enjoy life that I know of, what else can a man ask for. Oh yea I best admit that Ahab is my grandsons horse and he thinks its the greatest. Best let him beet me in another race.

Hi Cliff A short note - if someone hits me and my horse when I am riding on the road with the traffic - there had better be a real good reason. If I am hurt I will be ugly but if my horse is hurt or killed I will be real ugly! I have always understood that the horse and rider have the right of way. I would be paying a visit to my lawyer and starting a court case! If the person could not see you and your horse, how are they going to see a child? You lost your mare and nothing was done... Charges should have been laid by the cop!!!! Was he in a hurry to get to the donut shop? I feel that you should call the 1 800 and get a half hour visit with a lawyer in the area. My thoughts are with you over your mare. Bettie

I have been contacted by a few and it appears that the drivers are never charged, and want to see if this is common. Dear Redneck, My condolences on your loss of Jada. If you tell me what police force investigated I will find out who you can complain to about the driver not being charged. As well as that area's laws regarding horses on the road. As a citizen you have a right to complain and ask for a review. The worst that will happen is nothing but at least the police force will be on notice that horse owners are fed up and fighting back. Bettie is right try to get a free time with a lawyer and find out if you can sue but it is difficult when the owner wasn't charged. Under the freedom of information act you can get a copy of the police reports. It's easy. Get back to me if you want. Cheers, Sarah Again sorry for your loss of Jada.
